Using the Service


General Information

Do I need any additional software?

No.
The Primus E-mail Spam Protection service does not require you to download any additional software. This service is provided within the Primus network. Reading your e-mail on your PC with a program such as Microsoft Outlook Express will continue as usual. Your e-mail will be filtered from Spam where possible, before it reaches your PC.


What is Spam?

Spam can be generalised as unsolicited e-mail. Like junk mail in a letter box, Spam is generally e-mail advertising. In most cases Spam is generated from an unknown source and is sent out in large quantities, mainly to randomly generated e-mail addresses.


What is Primus webmail?

Primus webmail is available to all Primus account holders (excluding Primus Prepaid customers) and is free of charge. To view your Primus e-mail from anywhere in world whilst on the Internet, go to https://webmail.iprimus.com.au


Can I use this service on my prepaid account?

This service is not currently available on any prepaid dial-up packs.


Using the Service

How many Spam e-mails can I expect to be blocked from my mailbox?

The Primus E-mail Spam Protection service is expected to block up to 95% of known Spam.


How will the Primus E-mail Spam Protection service filter Spam?

The Primus E-mail Spam Protection service uses the world's most innovative Spam protection technology developed by IronPort Systems Inc. Using IronPort's Reputation Filtering technology combined with its Context Adaptive Scanning Engineā„¢ and their 24x7 Threat Operations Centre, IronPort dynamically defends e-mail users from new forms of Spam attacks, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.


How will I be billed for this service?

This service is provided on a monthly plan. The first period may be less than a month to coincide with your Internet access monthly billing date. You will be billed monthly in advance.


How will the service appear on my bill?

Whether you subscribe to either the Primus E-mail Virus and/or E-mail Spam Protection service, you will be billed monthly under the 'Internet Services -Other' section of your bill. This service is billed independently of any Internet access plan.


How do I cancel this service?

You can cancel the Primus E-mail Virus Protection and/or E-mail Spam Protection service at any time (but you will remain liable to pay to the end of the current billing month) by contacting customer service.


Where will the Spam e-mails go?

The Primus E-mail Spam Protection service will filter any e-mail identified by the software as probable Spam from entering your e-mail inbox. Probable Spam e-mail will remain in your Spam folder within your Primus webmail service for a duration of 7 to 14 days, after which it may be automatically deleted. Primus recommends you check your Spam folder through your webmail account, at least every 7 days, as on some occasions e-mail which you wish to receive may have been filtered into your webmail Spam folder.


Can I read the Spam e-mails?

Yes.
Open your Primus webmail service and view the Spam folder. E-mail identified as probable Spam will be retained in your Spam folder for a duration of 7 to 14 days, after which it may be automatically deleted. Primus recommends you check your Primus webmail account as least every 7 days, as on some occasions e-mail which you wish to receive may have been filtered into your webmail Spam folder.


If I create a new e-mail member after I have activated the E-mail Virus Protection and /or E-mail Spam Protection services, will it be covered by the service?

Yes.
Any new members that you create after the activation of the Primus E-mail Virus Protection and/or E-mail Spam Protection service will automatically be covered by the service.
